We hope you had a great week! The good news is that it's finally March which means we are one step closer to spring/summer!! We're coming back at you this week with another blog, and this week we're diving into the topic of clean beauty. This one is going to be good! So without further ado, let's get started.
WHAT IS CLEAN BEAUTY? WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
There are many different terms that often get thrown around in the beauty community/industry. Natural, Organic, Healthy, Non-Toxic and clean are just a few of the main examples, but what do they actually mean?
Clean beauty products should be made with sustainably produced ingredients that better our health and have not been synthetically altered. Of course, we only want to put things in our bodies that have the intention of helping, not hindering us, right? The best way to do this is to make sure the products we use have ingredients that come from nature, not from a Lab.
To us, Natural beauty is when products are created in a mindful way without the use of potentially harmful chemicals for us or the environment. Since natural beauty does not have one set definition and varied for many people, it is hard to determine what is TRULY natural.
You see, it can be very hard to truly decipher what is ACTUALLY a clean product. The beauty industry is very fuzzy about these details that can make it challenging.
HOW DO I SCOPE OUT CLEAN PRODUCTS?
It all starts at the ingredient list. It is important to be vigilant and critical when reading the ingredients. First, become familiar with what toxic ingredients you should be avoiding.
WHICH INGREDIENTS SHOULD I AVOID?
- Synthetic Colors
- Heavy Metals
- Sodium laryel sulphate & Sodium Laureth Sulfate
- Sunscreen Chemicals
- Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde Releasing Preservatives (FRP)
- Petroleum-Based Ingredients
WHAT ARE THE BEST NATURAL BEAUTY BRANDS?

- Andalou Naturals
- Vapour Organic Beauty

HOW TO TRANSITION TO NATURAL SKINCARE?
Just like any transition to a healthier lifestyle, think of switching to natural, clean beauty products as a journey. We would recommend starting off small. 2-3 products at a time, after all, Rome wasn't built in a day 😉.
