A Quick Message Before We Start:

Right now, the world has a huge opportunity for positive change. We have all witnessed these awful acts of repeated injustices against the Black community. Please continue to speak on this issue and do your part, until we see a change. We continue to stand in solidarity with your pain, frustration, and desire for resolve. We must not let this be forgotten. Stay safe, Darlings.

We hope you had a great week! Father's Day is here and this week we're going to be showing you the best cocktails to enjoy with your old man.

While mothers often get showered with flowers and chocolate on their special day, fathers tend to have the same beer + bbq celebration. Fun, but we all know they deserve more. So this year, we’re going to toast them with a drink that’s worthy of them. Below are a few options that will show Dad how much you appreciate him. Without further ado, let's get started!

1. The Ferrari

Cheers to the man who taught you how to ride a bike and let you borrow his car by gifting him with a new ride. Not in your price range? Then settle for the next best thing: a round of Ferrari shots, featuring Campari and fernet.

1 1/2 ounces Fernet Branca
1 1/2 ounces Campari

Place rocks glass in the freezer at least 15 minutes before starting to make a cocktail. Fill mixing glass 2/3rds full with ice. Add Fernet and Campari. Stir until the drink is well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into chilled rocks glass. Serve.

    2. Mr. Howell

This Daiguri is an underrated classic, a beautifully pure combination of rum, lime juice, and sugar. If your father prefers something on the sweeter side, this drink is for him.

3/4 ounce (20ml) fresh juice from 1 large or 2 small limes
    1/2 ounce (15ml) maple syrup
1/2 ounce (15ml) peaty Islay Scotch, such as Laphroaig
    Lime wheel, for garnish
    1 1/2 ounces (45ml) rum

      1. Add rum, lime juice, maple syrup, and Scotch to a cocktail shaker and fill 2/3 full with ice. Shake until well chilled, about 15 seconds.

Double-strain into a coupe glass, garnish with a lime wheel and serve immediately.

      3. Mela d'Alba

This apple brandy-based variation on the classic Negroni cocktail is spicy, rich, and bittersweet. It's as simple as could be to make, but the magic is in the proportions: It's not the standard equal-parts setup.

2 ounces (60ml) Laird's Bonded Apple Brandy (see note)
        1 ounce (30ml) sweet vermouth
        1 ounce (30ml) Campari
        Lemon twist, for garnish

          1. Add apple brandy, sweet vermouth, and Campari to an ice-filled Old Fashioned glass. Stir until well chilled, about 15 seconds. Express lemon oils over drink and add lemon twist. Serve immediately.

          4. Rob Roy

Simply a Manhattan made with Scotch whisky, the Rob Roy has been kicking around for more than a century. This is a timeless, tasty cocktail that you will absolutely love.

2 ounces (60ml) blended Scotch whisky
          1 ounce (30ml) sweet vermouth
          2 dashes Angostura bitters
          Garnish: lemon or orange twist

            1. Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well for about 20 seconds, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Twist a piece of lemon or orange peel over the drink and use as garnish.

Thank you for reading this week's blog and we look forward to seeing you next week! While you're here, feel free to take a look at our three favourite items of the week!
